Thursday, August 21, 2014 at 6:00 PM the Tulsa City Council will consider three rezoning applications that if approved would essentially be a death blow to Tulsa’s only Form Based Code, the essential policy building block of Smart Growth. Smart Growth Tulsa calls on every Tulsan to TAKE ACTION IMMEDIATELY to prevent this giant step backward in developing sound and sustainable land use policies consistent with our comprehensive plan. You can help right now! Urge the Tulsa City Council to deny rezoning applications and save Smart Growth!
Step One:
The rezoning applications are located on properties in Council District 4. We strongly encourage every follower to email City Councilor Blake Ewing today! Ask him to strongly oppose the rezoning applications because they would be an enormous step backward and jeopardize years of planning efforts by the local neighborhood association, the City of Tulsa, INCOG, as well as a highly respected national consultant!
Step Two:
Attend the City Council Meeting in One Technology Center downtown at 6:00 P.M., Thursday August 21st. Sign up and SPEAK OUT! Make the case for creating a healthy, walkable urban neighborhood that supports the Comprehensive Plan and Smart Growth. It is absolutely vital to fill the Council Chamber with a wave of support for keeping the Form Based-Codes in this tiny area.
There are 10 accepted principles that define smart growth:

- Foster distinctive, attractive communities with a strong sense of place
- Preserve open space, farmland, natural beauty, and critical environmental areas
- Strengthen and direct development towards existing communities
- Provide a variety of transportation choices
- Make development decisions predictable, fair, and cost effective
- Encourage community and stakeholder collaboration in development decisions
